A local tree broker was developing a nursery in Falmouth MA at the location of an old strawberry farm and wanted an office space for sales and operations.
Build an office space to fit the wooded environment and represent the essence of the business by harvesting and utilizing lumber from 50 years of tree growth on the lot.
The challenge here was to design and build a timber framed space with locally harvested material. The new space had to have a street presence to represent the business, but also fit into the surrounding environment.
Our approach was to create a modestly scaled, barn-like structure with light, airy space that could be used in a variety of ways to support sales and operations functions.
As a gesture of public persona, we were fascinated by the way a simple timber frame structure featuring a locust pergola and modest stone walls gave such an identifiable presence to a business.
Dale purchased the adjoining lot with an existing house and garage repurposed as office space, and sadly, this design was never built.
